Adessowiki - Collaborative Programming for Teaching Image Processing

چکیده

Adessowiki is a collaborative environment for scientific writing and programming. The system is composed of a collection of collaborative web pages in the form of a wiki. The articles of this wiki can embed programming code that will be executed on the server when the page is rendered, incorporating the results as figures, texts and tables on the document. We present in this paper the benefits of the system as a collaborative environment for teaching and research in image processing. We report the successful experience of Adessowiki as a teaching environment, where students submit their reports and exercises on Adessowiki without the need to install special software; and as an environment for collaborative writing of scientific texts such as papers and image processing books, where the figures are generated in a reproducible way by programs written by the authors. In this paper we report the experience from the viewpoint of the instructors, the authors and the students. We conclude that the power of Adessowiki has been confirmed in practice, and it is recommended to enhance the productivity in image processing teaching, programming and collaborative scientific writing.
